Tabled for additional review: Public Safety Grant: The city will provide a grant of $50 to residents who install a doorbell camera, a security camera, or a motion-detection light on their property from September 1 to December 31, 2025 until the funding is depleted.
First Reading: Enter into a contract with Murphy Company to replace the broken boiler at City Hall.
Neighborhood Preservation: The weather will be turning cooler soon. Now is the time to:
Change the furnace filter
Thoroughly clean the dryer vent
Doublecheck that all smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers are in good working order
Plant bulbs, shrubs, and trees
Keep watering your young trees
Neighborhood Safety: Are you receiving weather alerts? There are numerous ways to stay updated on weather alerts. Organizations like FEMA, St. Louis County, and local news stations provide apps and text notifications for weather updates. Choose the method that suits you best to remain informed.
An alternative to texts/apps is a weather radio. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Alert Radios are small, sometimes portable, radio units tuned to the National Weather Service (NWS) frequencies. When a severe weather watch or warning is issued, the NWS sends a tone followed by a voice message, to alert users of the situation, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Since these radios are activated by the NWS for watches and warnings, they should be left "on" 24 hours a day. This also ensures you will receive alerts at night, should severe weather pop up.
Residents can tune into the St. Louis County channel (029189) to receive notifications.
